Along with Sunday school and worship, South Joplin's other ministries and activites include.....

Youth Groups: Youth group meets weekly for 6th - 12th graders.  Other age groups have occasional activities on Sunday afternoons.

Christian Women's Fellowship: Our CWF meet the first Wednesday of each month for Spiritual life, business, food, fellowship and to hear a speaker.  The second Wednesday of each month two CWF groups meet for worship, study and service.

Bell Choir: We currently have a periodic bell choir that meets for short term practices in preparation for playing in worship or at special events several times each year.

Vocal Choir: Adult Choir practice is at 7:00 p.m. each Wednesday.  They sing in worship each Sunday.

Family Fun Night: Children and adults are invited to join us for special activities once a month on Friday evenings from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Men's and Women's Bible Studies: Women meet on Monday morning at 10:30 a.m.  Men meet on Wednesday morning at 9:00 a.m.

Vacation Bible School: Each summer we host Vacation Bible School for ages 3 - adult.  We have made it a practice for eight years now to write our own curriculum.

Kerygma: Bible Study: Several Kerygma studies have been offered.  These are long term studies that help bring a greater understanding of the Bible as we grow in faith.  Currently Kerygma: Discovering the Bible, a 30-week introduction to the Bible class is being offered.

Crown Financial Ministry classes: As we come to understand stewardship as central to our faith, Crown Finanical classes help in that process.  They are offered as need arises.

Moms Matter: This group for mothers of young children meets on the third Friday of each month, gathering for support, fellowship and Bible study.  A nursery is provided for children.

Dinners for Eight: These four-month social groups are put together so that we can get to know one another more deeply as we share food and fellowship in each other's home or at local restaurants.

Spiritual Life Groups: Spiritual Life Groups are small groups where we learn practices of prayer and share our spiritual autobiographies.  They result in deeper connections to God and to others in our groups.

Prayer Retreats: We share in two types of prayer retreats.  On an annual basis we offer a silent prayer retreat where a group spends the weekend at a retreat center in Independence, KS.  We also have day retreats at the church with opportunities to grow and learn about different ways of praying.

Labyrinth: Our labyrinth (prayer path) is a tool for prayer.  Symbolic of the faith journey which finds us sometimes closer and sometimes farther away from God, the labyrinth is a path on which prayer becomes a physical act of journeying to the center to meet God.  The labyrinth is located at the corner of 19th and Wall St.

Crosslines of Joplin: Crosslines is an ecumenical ministry which reaches out to those in need.  We support Crosslines through gifts of money, food and clothing as well as volunteer hours.

Soles 4 Souls: This ministry provides shoes to people around the world who would otherwise go without.  In 2008 we did our first shoe drive for Soles 4 Souls and collected several hundred pairs of shoes.

Just Say Know: This ministry helps teach children and youth about sexuality from a Biblical viewpoint while also helping children and parents learn to talk about important issues of sexuality and adolescence.
